About The Role

PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Engineering Operative Apprentice for our client, Hampshire Generators, based in Exton in Hampshire. This role involves working in a team, learning a variety of tasks across the business.

Training to be provided: 

As an Engineering Operative Apprentice, you will be studying a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship. Throughout your apprenticeship with Hampshire Generators, you will be supported by your company mentor and your PETA Learning and Development Coach.
Your apprenticeship programme includes working towards a Level 2 Diploma and Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations. 
Overall duration 15 months.

About the role:

Joining the team at Hampshire Generators as an Engineering Operative Apprentice, you will have a willingness to learn and good communication with your team.

Your area of learning on the job will be:

Service and Repair small petrol driven generators / ancillary equipment as well as larger diesel-powered generators that use Perkins, Cummins, Volvo engines, among others
Diagnose and troubleshoot machines and control systems in our workshop or remotely assisting customers and our own engineers
PDI, Modify and Inspect Generators before despatch to customer's sites
Check/Repair returned machines for warranty claims
Work with the service team and workshop foreman to ensure the workshops runs smoothly
Source and order parts for routine maintenance and repair of current and obsolete engines and generators if necessary
Talk to customers in person and on the phone to provide updates/information on jobs in progress or on completion
Complete paperwork, reports and log/update/complete jobs on our service system
Occasionally visit customers' sites to service and repair installed generators

Essential Skills:

An apprenticeship is all about learning new knowledge, skills and behaviours, therefore, to be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering and a willingness to learn.
To be considered for the role of a Workshop Engineer Apprentice, you will have an interest in technical/practical work and have a passion to work in the engineering industry.

You will also require the following skills and qualifications:

2 GCSE's at grade C (4) or above, or equivalents in maths and English
Good communication
Work well in a team
Positive attitude and enthusiasm 
Good at listening and following instructions
