PETA are proud to be working with Langstone Engineering Ltd to recruit and train a CNC Machinist Apprentice. This opportunity is a full-time role based at their site in Portsmouth.
Training to be provided:
As a CNC Machinist Apprentice, you will be studying a Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship. Throughout your Apprenticeship with Langstone Engineering, you will be supported by your company mentor and your PETA Learning and Development Coach.
You will attend PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the-job training, one day per week for 39 months of the apprenticeship.
Overall duration 45 months.
The job role is to start ASAP and training to start in March. Not suitable for school leavers 2024.
About the role:
As a CNC Machinist Apprentice, you will be trained to become a highly skilled machinist, manufacturing complex, precision parts and components from specialist materials using CNC machine tools.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Learning how to check materials before starting work
- Becoming competent using technical information such as using drawings, models and work order cards
- Setting up a range of work holding devices including chucks, fixtures and vices
- Learning how to programme, set, operate and adjust CNC machinery
- Completing milling and turning operations
- Adjusting a range of machining parameters to produce products with a high degree of accuracy and finish
- Gaining experience manufacturing parts to a high degree of accuracy and finish
- Using a range of measuring equipment.
Apprenticeship Progression:
Langstone Engineering have a great track record of supporting apprentices in their business. Over time, the role will develop to offer challenging new responsibilities to stretch your capabilities and understanding.
Upon completion of your apprenticeship programme, there is the potential to be offered a full-time position.

An apprenticeship is all about learning new knowledge, skills and behaviours, therefore, to be considered for this role of a CNC Machinist Apprentice, you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in Engineering and a willingness to learn.

- GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- A strong work ethic and motivated with a can-do attitude
