Cowley Computer Solutions is offering an exciting opportunity for an aspiring IT professional to join our friendly and experienced team as an IT Service Desk Technician Apprentice.
This apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to gain real-world IT experience while working towards a recognised qualification, learning directly from experienced engineers, and developing skills that can lead to a rewarding career in the technology industry.
Training to be provided:
Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard. You will complete a 22-month apprenticeship which includes 25 days at the PETA training centre in Cosham. You will be supported every 6-8 weeks with visits from your PETA Learning & Development Coach.
About the role:
As part of our Service Desk team, you'll become the first point of contact for businesses needing IT support. Every day will be different, giving you exposure to a wide range of technologies and environments.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Help users resolve IT issues by phone, email, and remote support tools
- Learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems
- Gain hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows, cloud services, cybersecurity solutions, and business IT systems
- Assist with setting up new computers, laptops, and devices
- Visit customer sites alongside experienced engineers
- Work with modern IT support and management tools used by leading technology professionals
- Develop customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills that are highly valued throughout the IT industry

Essential Skills:
It is essential that the IT Service Desk Technician Apprentice has the following skills and personal qualities:
- GCSEs in maths and English with at least a grade C / 4 are required
- Has a genuine passion for technology and IT
- Enjoys learning new skills and solving problems
- Is curious, motivated, and eager to develop
- Communicates confidently and professionally
- Works well as part of a team
- Has basic knowledge of computers and technology gained through school, college, personal projects, or self-study
You don't need extensive experience. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for technology are far more important.
Successful applicants will need to meet the requirements of the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and may be required to undergo Security Check (SC) Clearance as part of our work with customers operating in secure environments.
