Do you have an eye for detail and an interest in how things work? PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Mechanical Engineering Apprentice for our client, GMK. This role involves learning how to use technical information to build strip and rebuild mechanical specialised gun assemblies. You will also be completing tests to ensure specifications are met.
Training to be provided:
The Mechanical Engineering Apprentice programme forms part of GMK’s succession planning for the future. You will be trained, supported and monitored throughout the process. During your apprenticeship you will be paid and day released to PETA’s Havant training centre for off-the job training.
You will learn how to work safely, work efficiently, use technical information, maintain mechanical and electrical equipment and use hand tools. Your Level 3 programme will include, a level 3 Engineering work-based qualification delivered by PETA, and day release for 24 months to complete a level 3 BTEC technical certificate. Overall duration 45 months.
About the role:
Joining the GMK team as an Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, your role will be focused on undertaking the manufacturing processes on site. As part of the Mechanical Engineering Apprentice programme, you will learn how to:
- Plan work activities, including sourcing components, equipment and tooling
- Interpret technical information Prepare the work area for assembly task
- Assemble components to produce equipment, machines and systems
- Produce complex high value, low volume assemblies
- How to produce and/or re-furbish components
- Check your work against quality standards and make any required adjustments
- Hand over products and prepare the work area for the next task
- With experience you will also be able to identify and resolve problems

Essential Skills:
To be considered for the role of Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, you will have a keen eye for detail and take pride in completing work to a high quality level. You will also require the following qualifications and skills:
- 2 GCSE's at grade C (4) or above, or equivalents in maths and English are essential
- Good manual dexterity and co-ordination
