Working as an Engineering Apprentice with Knowlton and Newman, part of the Rubix Group, provide 24/7 engineering services. We repair, overhaul, install, and maintain pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic equipment and cover a wide range of industrial equipment for customers across multiple sectors.
Training to be provided:
This Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician apprenticeship provides hands-on training in maintaining and ensuring the efficient operation of plant machinery and equipment. Delivered in partnership with PETA, the 46-month programme includes one day per week of training at their training centre in Havant. Apprentices gain nationally recognised qualifications while developing practical skills in fault finding, maintenance, and safety compliance. Upon completion, progression opportunities include a Level 4 Lead Engineering Maintenance Technician apprenticeship or related engineering roles.

Joining the Knowlton and Newman team as an Engineering Apprentice, your role will be focused on supporting the manufacturing processes on site. As part of your programme, you will learn how to:
Core Duties (under supervision):
- Assist skilled technicians with dismantling, inspection, repair, and reassembly of equipment
- Carry out basic engineering tasks such as cleaning, preparing components, packing, and simple assembly
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment only after training and under guidance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace
- Follow instructions carefully from mentors, supervisors, and colleagues
- Learn to record work carried out and complete job documentation
- Adhere to company health & safety requirements at all times
Training & Development:
- Participate fully in the structured apprenticeship programme, attending training sessions, college courses, and assessments as required
- Develop a practical understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
- Gain skills in reading engineering drawings, using measuring tools, and operating machinery
- Progress towards independently carrying out simple engineering repairs and tasks
- Build knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, and other rotating equipment
- Demonstrate continuous improvement in technical ability, safety awareness, and teamwork

Qualifications:

- No previous engineering experience required (full training provided)
- Must be eligible to enrol on an engineering apprenticeship programme
- Full UK driving licence desirable but not essential
